Summary
This pack summarizes published evidence, dosing context, safety considerations, and Australian legal status for Dulaglutide.
What the sources say
- In REWIND, a cardiovascular-outcomes trial with median follow-up of 5.4 years, major adverse cardiovascular events occurred in 12.0% of participants assigned dulaglutide and 13.4% assigned placebo (hazard ratio 0.88, 95% CI 0.79–0.99). This supports benefit in the studied type 2 diabetes population, not a universal preventive claim. (Human clinical trials; Gerstein et al., "Dulaglutide and cardiovascular outcomes in type 2 diabetes (REWIND)", 2019-06-09)
- Patient posts in a Trulicity forum thread describe varied experiences, including nausea or reflux and reports of improved glucose or weight; these are unverified accounts and cannot establish efficacy, frequency or causation. (Community reports; Diabetes.co.uk Forum, "Reactions to Trulicity", 2020-03-13)
- Dulaglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist used to improve glycaemic control in type 2 diabetes; the Australian Trulicity label describes the specific product and use. (Educator material (not peer reviewed); TGA, Australian Public Assessment Report attachment: Product Information for dulaglutide (Trulicity), 2015-07-27)
- The TGA states that the evidence available was insufficient to support a causal association between GLP-1 receptor agonists and suicidal or self-harming behaviours, but product warnings were harmonised and health professionals are advised to monitor for new or worsening depression, suicidal thoughts or unusual behavioural changes. (Educator material (not peer reviewed); TGA, "GLP-1 RAs: warnings aligned over potential risk of suicidal thoughts or behaviours", 2025-12-01)
- The older Australian product-information copy describes gastrointestinal adverse effects and product-specific cautions, including pancreatitis and gallbladder concerns. Refer to the current Trulicity PI for current warnings and risk language. (Educator material (not peer reviewed); TGA, Australian Public Assessment Report attachment: Product Information for dulaglutide (Trulicity), 2015-07-27)
- The June 2026 Poisons Standard defines Schedule 4 medicines as prescription-only; this legal classification does not establish current stock or PBS eligibility. (Educator material (not peer reviewed); Australian Government, Therapeutic Goods (Poisons Standard—June 2026) Instrument 2026, 2026-05-28)
